Why We Serve
The local church is a family…a family of believers with each possessing the capacity to serve one another. A family doesn’t work unless each member takes their place. So, why wait? “God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.” (1 Peter 4:10 NLT).
When we serve we not only provide a valuable service, but we also end up meeting new people, finding skills and developing areas of interest we may not have known we had. We also begin to look outside of ourselves and our daily life and find ourselves considering the situations of others.
And, even though we don’t serve to receive, God is faithful to meet your needs as well. Luke 6:38 (NLT) says; “Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.”
How to Serve
You might know what you’d like to do to serve, wondering how to serve or in what area you would serve best. That service can take many forms, whether one collects offering as an usher, greets at the door, welcomes people in the parking lot as they arrive or shares the love of God with our children in our Family Ministries area.
There’s more that goes on behind the scenes as people rake leaves, mow the lawn, help clean the facilities, prepare for special events and more. If you’d like to begin to find and use your gifts, click on the link to complete our Serve form. Someone from the Member Engagement team will contact you and talk to you about the many ways that you can serve alongside your brothers and sisters in Christ!
